Episode 145: Dr Ed Butler (Independent environmental researcher) - Part 2
This episode features Part 2 of Craig's interview with Dr Ed Butler, a chemical oceanographer and environmental biogeochemist. For 28 years Ed was a scientist with CSIRO at the Marine Laboratories in Hobart, followed by 7 years as Science Leader at the Arafura Timor Research Facility of the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in Darwin. Now, he is an independent environmental researcher and doing volunteer work for the Environmental Defenders Office in Hobart. In this Part 2 we hear Ed talk about two of his recent scientific publications, including a paper detailing the results of a study on the bioaccumulation of mercury in Barramundi in the Northern Territory and a book chapter on the "status of iodine and climate change in Tasmania" . We also hear him relate his experiences of working at sea and of his role with the Tasmanian Independent Science Council.
