Episode 116: Alistair Cheal (Coral Reef Ecologist) - Part 2

This episode features Part 2 of Craig's interview with coral reef ecologist Alistair Cheal, who, prior to retirement and a move to Tasmania in 2021, was a scientist with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in Townsville (Qld) for 25 years.  You'll hear Alistair talk of the changes he observed on the Great Barrier Reef during his time in the tropics and about the various key disturbances that can underlie such changes: climate change, cyclones, and Crown of Thorns Starfish.  He also refutes Craig's suggestion that he was "blessed", having spent so many years working in warm, tropical environs, citing testing boating conditions and close encounters with a shark and a crocodile!
