Episode 137: Bob Drysdale (Commercial fisher - retired) - Part 2
The first half of this episode features Part 2 of Craig's interview with Bob Drysdale, a former dairy farmer in Tasmania's Central Highlands who later moved to Eaglehawk Neck on Tasman Peninsula and became a commercial fisher for rock lobster and other species including trevalla and stripey trumpeter; 33 years commercial fishing in Tasmania’s waters. In this Part 2 we hear Bob talk of some "nasty moments" experienced while fishing on Tasmania's remote and rugged west coast but he also describes his wonderful at-sea encounters with a particular large bird and with a particular, very large whale. And, after a prompt by Craig, Bob provides some rather strong advice for young persons who might contemplate a career in commercial fishing. The second half of the episode sees Craig reading a couple of recently published articles that come with marine flavours.
