Episode 139: David Franklin (Flashair Australia) - Part 1
The interview guest in this episode is David Franklin, a longtime resident in Tasmania whose life to date has been very much linked to the sea, through his various work activities but also through his passion for fishing and boating which began at a very early age. In this Part 1 we hear David talk entertainingly of his early years, growing up in Strathalbyn in country South Australia and of the family shack at Myponga Beach. He relates leaving home at 15 years of age to become a jackaroo on a cattle station just south of Alice Springs and then onto the path that led to him becoming a pilot and flight instructor in the mining industry and then later to working in the southern bluefin tuna fishing industry at the boom time for tuna farming in Port Lincoln, initially as a commercial diver, then as a tuna spotter pilot, spotting tuna schools for the industry from small planes both in Australia and at times overseas. Part 2 of David's interview will feature as the next episode of Vibes Under The Sea.
