Episode 134: Ruby Fox (IMAS) - Part 1
In this episode we hear Part 1 of Craig's interview with Ruby Fox, who is currently doing her Honours year at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania. Ruby’s project has investigated the feeding behaviours of Australian Sea Lions; how they feed, what they feed on and at what rates they feed; and exploring the sea lions’ role and impact across different benthic ecosystems. And her research has involved some smart AI techniques; using animal borne video camera footage combined with accelerometer and magnetometer data. She has a strong passion for wanting to see the outcomes of her research have tangible applications to the conservation of the Australian Sea Lion colonies in southern Australia but hopefully also applications to populations of other species of seals worldwide. Part 2 of Ruby's interview will feature in the next episode of Vibes Under The Sea.
